WoowUp is a company that develops a CRM (with the same name) that allows retail companies to exploit their customer data to the maximum, putting them at the service of the business. The fundamental pillar of this company is omnichannel, i.e., integration with all data sources to create 360° customer profiles. They also offer marketing process automation solutions, and business consulting, among others.
DinoCloud, leaders in adopting global innovation technologies and cloud computing, have professional teams with the technical expertise to accompany companies in adopting cloud technologies. In this opportunity, WoowUp came to DinoCloud as a StartUp selected by AWS to participate in its pilot funding program AWS StartUp Modernization.
The AWS StartUp Modernization Program is a two-stage project: the first involves a review of three of the six pillars of the Well-Architected Framework (WAF), and the second involves the implementation of services from these three pillars to modernize your infrastructure. The WAF pillars to be audited: security, cost optimization, and operational excellence.
DinoCloud’s professional relationship with WoowUp sprang from the AWS StartUp Modernization pilot program. AWS detected that WoowUp needed modernization of its infrastructure following best practices and adding AWS foundational services. On the other hand, AWS trusted DinoCloud to accompany WoowUp in its modernization processes, mainly because of its experience and technical resources to address migration plans.
The duration of the first part of this project was 300 hours and included a Discovery/Assessment stage and a migration stage.
WoowUp’s main objective was always to improve its infrastructure, mainly in cost optimization, as they were spending more than it should. So, in the Discovery/Assessment stage, a WAF review was conducted on the pillars of operational excellence, security, and cost optimization.
In the second stage of the first part of the project, the migration itself was performed using Amazon EKS. This service simplifies migration by providing a managed Kubernetes service with seamless integration with other AWS services. It also allows you to leverage containerization, Kubernetes orchestration, scalability, and high availability to seamlessly and efficiently migrate applications to the Amazon EKS environment.
Under the pilot funding program StartUp Modernization, WoowUp was able to migrate the AWS services to a Kubernetes environment using Amazon EKS. On the other hand, WoowUp was able to experience DinoCloud’s technical expertise and agile methodologies for the first part of the project.
As the results were beyond expectations, WoowUp decided to continue with a new stage of the project involving the remediation of security pain points and cost optimization. Moreover, WoowUp received a lot of educational content on how AWS works, enabling it to make more accurate and results-oriented decisions once the professional relationship with DinoCloud ends.
